Sensor Question?

Replaced bottom gasket on Coolant Regulator Housing on my 86 S3.

A sensor receptacle (Male-3 Prong-White Plastic) fell out of a bracket, when I was disassembling fuel line, etc. to get at and remove Coolant Regulator. Have female sensor plug attached to wire, however, to my memory this female end terminated to just the male end, which was not joined to a wire to my recollection.

The male end (white plastic), was situated in the rear of this bracket. The bracket has a cutout for the male sensor receptacle. The bracket is to the left and behind the oil filler cap.

What does this sensor do? To no avail have I found it: looked under car, used compressed air under intakes, rinsed valley of engine, drained and flushed radiator in case went in upper radiator hose, looked around oil pan housing, etc.

Could not find on Parts Microfiche that I have and went to Porsche Dealer, where the PET did not illustrate as well.

Help would be greatly appreciated. Rob

the part your talking about sounds like the TPS short harness connector,
its common for these connectors the crack.

NOTE the bracket that it is installed into is to the left (while facing the the engine) of the oil fill spout

Harness Connector (3 Prong Male) was located in bracket behind strut brace bar. Looked
at pictures of available Throttle Position Sensor by Bosch, and does not resemble that it will fit into this bracket hole.

Sure that this is where the TPS is located or another sensor?

That is the TPS harness connector, get a new harness that goes from the TPS to that connector and you will be good for another 20 years. Roger has them in stock at 928sRus.
