Thermo time switch vs temp II (88 928 S4)

Does anyone know if it matters which wires go to which prong on these sensors? Are the wires prong specific in other words.
2. Is there a difference in the blue top temp II versus the black top?
3. Will the vehicle still start but run rich?
4. 88 928 S4's do not have a cold start valve correct?
Thank you everyone
