Alarm system is playing up

Hi all I need some urgent help

let me explain the problem of which i have 2.

I have always had an issue with my alarm system. when i press the key fob to disable the alarm, if i don't put the key in the ignition within 5-10 seconds the immobilizer kicks in and disables the car and alarm sounds all over the place. Yes and the neighbors hate me. I have to then take key out close the door reset the alarm.... wait then disable it and quickly put the key in the ignition and start her. I literally don't even have time to sit in the car to do this. once shes started I then can then climb in, sit down and close the door and doors auto lock.

And now just resonantly I have another issue which is related to the boot lock/wiper i think.

First the boot was not closing some thing was stopping it from closing properly. I found that the rear wiper was not sitting in the hole thingy for the wiper motor bracket. i had to manually move the wiper arms to the right to align the holes for the boot to close. but, the main problem. all doors shut i set the alarm. boot closed. wait 2 minutes then via the alarm fob try to disable the alarm and open the doors. the doors both open. I put the key in the ignition and the alarm goes off and immobilizer has kicked in, no start. I have to take the key out of the ignition put it in the boot lock turn it right to open it, alarm sound stops, then quickly rush to the front and start the car. but boot is now open and i have to go and close it.

Also to note if i leave the key in the ignition and started, if i jump out for any reason and the door closes thats it i'm stuffed she auto locks on me. its happens many a time hence i have 4 keys

so i know its something to do with the boot lock i think... any thoughts anyone. pictures below. plus does anyone know this alarm as i wanted to contact them regarding what the digital number pad was for with all the numbers.

See http://www.car-alarms.co.nz/documents/sigmaBrochure.pdf

Looks a bit like the S34 remotes and maybe an older style keypad unit.

Seems a popular & well known UK brand - maybe you can find someone who knows about it and can fix this issue. It is not a Porsche designed system - and who knows what the install was - however it clearly was not a cheap system so probably decent quality.

I thought the keypad was supposed to face the windshield (windscreen) so you can use it from outside?

I have a feeling something in the boot has become misaligned. hence causing it to not open correctly. work for a sunny day.

I have contacted scorpion alarms, the manufacturers, for some information regarding this plus luckily i have 3 dealers and repair shops locally who fit these alarms (the newer series of them) so hopefully they can fix it. I'm going to take a picture of what i think has caused the problem and post it later today. I think this was the cause if it. the wiper arm was not making contact with the base plate. something has moved which was causing it to not shut and lock. it was from this point on that the alarm (second problem in original listing) started playing up.

this is what scorpion alarms have told me. I hope it helps anyone else in re coding theirs.

(quote email):

Hi,

The only sure way to tell which M-Series alarm you have is by locating the main ECU and this will be written on the foil sticker at the rear of the ECU.

The following required the keypad to be fitted to the vehicle, if there is not a keypad fitted then you would need to visit your local alarm installer. Your local dealer can be found by visiting Scorpion Automotive - Supplier and manufacturer of vehicle security alarm systems and mobile communication Interfaces - Find A Dealer

It sound as though the auto re-arm time is set to short “5 seconds” you can change this to a longer period by arming then disarming the alarm system and typing *17856*18*30## this will set the timing to 30 seconds, note a beep should be heard after the *17856 and after the # is entered.

If a door is open on the vehicle the doors should not lock if a door is open or if the door is open and then closed, if the doors are locking then there may be a fault on the door switch. This feature can be turned off by turning on the ignition and then pressing button 5 on the keypad.

Neverthe less my issue remains but i know it is to do with the boot and the dial on the drivers side near the hand brake.

I disarm the alarm then with the key open the book then start the car...no problem. if i disarm and open the car door alarm sounds and becomes immobilized. quickly go open boot and alarm off.

I also cannot open the boot from the dial on my drivers side..she was working. I remember taking her for the mot and opening the boot . this was the last time i could open her via the dial. any link to problem?????maybe.

Rear windscreen wiper is def. misaligning with motor arm. I have to re position her to close the boot. all linked i think.

anyway shes going to Parr Porsche tomorrow for a proper health check. i may get them to fix it depending on price.

I think you are likely looking at a red herring with the hatch related the the wiper issue.

Do the interior lights work? if not fix that because the hatch release pull only works if the interior lights work. The Alarm may be relying on the interior hatch light switch to determine if the hatch is open. If the inteior light power is out - the alarm probably thinks the hatch is always open...?

if no interior lights test fuse 24? change it - see if it fixes this (test it again)...
