Do you have a hole cut in the door metal for that speaker to fit?

no hole cut in the door for the speaker. Tony, armrest reinforcements a good idea. the drivers side has a homemade one at this time, seems to work well, not reinstalling radio, so no speakers. I'll let the voices in my head keep me entertained!

Which model Alpine is the driver, from the picture it looks way too deep to fit a stock door.

Next time my door skins come off, I am going with a reinforcement kit, 928intl sells them I think.

My problem is that I want to do everything, make the door panel all it can be etc, so I keep putting off starting.

I just purchased a set of the armrest reinforcements from Jim Doerr at 928Classics. They work well but I found some modification/trimming of the armrest plastic was necessary to make them near perfect.

Overall I would recommend them.

Tony, what's involved in fitting the lower speaker? ( in the lower carpeted area of the door panel)
Cut inner door metal?
any clearance issues with the glass etc?

looks like a real project > mine where the same or worse (1980 )
so I bought a perfect pair with all the rugs in good condition from a salvage yard for $50 in Santa Rosa Ca.
Going to another Salvage Yard today here in Las Vegas who I have heard has some 928's we shall see . A small place just discovered
This place ( Hayward Ca ) always has a lot of 928 parts but they are costly

1" risers can be had for cheap if speakers are to deep. After finding out above that Shane will not be running speakers, Will post more over on the Just Peachy thread instead of littering up Shane's thread T

Early cars don't have grilles and mount the speaker with the face on the rear of the panel, makes for a very tight fit.

Shane, Do the gluing in 2 stages. Contact cement your material of choice to the front of the door card, then carefully trim off excess after it dries and be sure to leave a little extra material. Flip the door card over and do a dry run without glue to get a feel for the material before gluing down the excess. Looks like someone previously cut out the middle of where the stock speaker was to make room for a component tweeter. Same thing happened to my door but I will be installing a component tweeter there. While you have the fiberglass/resin handy, you might want to reinforce that area on the back so if someone does lean into it they will make that hole even bigger.02 T
