Where to find 928's
This web site is mostly 911 based as most are. I am looking for odd color combo early 928 and I am not having much luck. I know most collector cars are traded privately so I am asking if anyone has a lead or knows a better place to search.
Killer of deal is it has to be CA legal. There was exact carI wanted in FL green/green pasha interior stick 78 car but I had previously asked about smog and it didn't seam worth it. |

Only Euro models have issues coming into Calif, the rest just need all the normal smog gear for that year. Up to I think 80 the vin didn't make being a Euro obvious with the wpozzz, and smog gear was nothing fancy, so those years might slip in just fine.
Why not state exactly what you want and what your budget is, otherwise nobody is really going to do much looking for you, and that is what turns up unusual cars. |

Persistent -
Hey Wanna, Just keep your eyes open, you never know when an opportunity to buy the 928 you want will suddenly appear and she calls your name. A few years ago I had offered to help a retired friend get his riding lawnmower started. When I arrived, sitting there in his driveway was a fire engine red 84 928 auto that had obviously not been on the road for a while. Along with the expired tags, inspection sticker and being covered in a thick layer of dirt, all four tires were almost flat. He'd just pushed it out of the garage to give us some access room to his mower.
It turned out that the mower was beyond help. Because it was relatively new, he had neglected to check the engine oil and it now had a rod journal frozen onto the crankshaft. As you can imagine, at first I was very leery to even make an offer when he asked if I was interested in buying this dead in the water 928. It turned out that the car had been (somewhat) routinely serviced by a foreign car garage and the owner had only parked it after an ongoing series of staggering repair bills. As most 928 owners can tell you - with enough time and money anything can be revived. Although it turned out to be in pretty good overall condition, Miss Purdy only came back to life after the typical list of resuscitation procedures and a loooong list of parts were installed. Good Luck, Michael

What I want is clearly posted in orig post? Odd color early CA legal 928. Green/pasha 5spd ideal car.
I hate posting a price as sellers then obviously go right to limit. Besides museum pieces they are trading in the teens to mid 20's for very nice examples. I have no problem paying in that or slightly above depending on what it is and condition. I know to some 928's are hard to sell and there is someone sitting on the exact car just not advertising it. That is reason for post. Thanks any help greatly appreciated. |
