Hello again, 928 questions
I haven't visit for over three years, no I wasn't in prison. As I'm now eligible for retirement ( 51 years old) I'm thinking of a Porsche again. I plan to keep working to fund my thirst for shop/vehicle stuff. I remember when the 928 hit the cover of Road & Track so this is what I'm leaning towards. I have found a hand full of "parts/projects 928's" in the Southwest but not one with a manual transmission yet.
Ok I'm rambling again, should I start buying all these 928's cheap for parts? Hold out for only manual transmission 928's or what? I have a 40'x60' shop with a few acres of parking space. ![]() |

I wanted a manual but fell in love with the color of my 1980 928 Minerva Blue Metallic. Never seen it before in my life, there is a vendor that has a kit to make it a 6 speed manual. I sometimes think about it but I do love the way the car drives. Off the line not all that but in 3 sec I love it. Back to you if you have the $$$ and space buy one with the good interior if you find it and good for parts cheap or find the one that pulls your heart and dig in

hi 930dreamer
i always thought that to restore a car it was always best to replace parts with new ones. rather than buying loads of other run downs and building a new rundown car . that said I understand some parts may not be available. I think you should wait for the one you want (manual, colour, spec) then only buy what you need at that time. save your space and plant some daffodils ![]()

I'd wait until something close to your desire comes available.
I'm in my fifties and originally wanted a stick, since my 944 had one, but settled for an auto...and now...I'm glad I got the auto. To me...it's nice to just sit back and drive...while enjoying a cup of coffee or smoking a cigar. I'm kind of past the burn-out, stop light to stop light stuff anyway. If you mash the gas on one of these things, even with an auto...it moves out plenty fast enough to get yourself a ticket. Good luck finding what your after. Brian |

You should adopt me and I will bring a couple manual transmission cars with me.
![]() Plenty of space and I would be buying any 928 I ran across at a good enough price. OTOH I get no joy out of driving an AT trans 928. |
