I know it stupid but... Bilstien toSachs
I have a harsh ride now and I had bought Sachs for the front, then found I had Bilstiens.
I know they can be rebuilt, and I know there are supposed to be far superior then any other stock strut, but I really don't want to spend a whole bunch of time and money getting these redone... Is there a way I can use the Sachs struts in the front without a whole lot of modification? Anyone? Thanks, jc |

I replaced mine (possibly the originals
![]() I went with them over Konis or bilsteins (harder ride- who needs that all the time?)because my car will never see a race track, street/highway use only, I like the comfortable ride, to improve cornering I have fitted a stronger solid adjustable front bar, gives best of both worlds. works for me.

So how hard was this?
I can do it but.... what's the parts list like. Am I going to be paying more then a couple of hundred in parts? I already have the Struts for the front. (Sachs) and can probably leave the back alone for a while.. Seems much worse up front.
I already replaced the Motor mounts which improved thing 100%, but still not as good as an old 944 I had. thanks for any info on this. |

The Boge/Sachs will give you the ride Porsche designed into the car, the heavier bar only starts acting when cornering, tightens and levels it real nice.
I had the bar custom made, cost $250(in Australia)same diameter, so stock or aftermarket bushes still useable. Check your local spring/suspension maker/fitter, get an idea how much -not hard to fit. I dropped off a standard bar, told them same diameter, extra adjust point on each end, they worked out bar strength etc, picked it up a week later. Big noticeable difference from first corner. Price some adjustable drop links, they help set up. The total, Bar ,drop links, and bushes was about $400

If you have a harsh ride with Bilsteins you may have something else wrong, like wrong springs.

To use the sachs I'm pretty sure all you need is the lower perch and adjuster mechanisms

Sachs/Boge make two types of front shock, pre and post adjustable perches, Used adjusters are so cheap, it would be silly to persevere with the non adjustable suspension.(but then you will also need the shorter springs-or cut the long ones )
