EGR Exhaust Gas Recirculation, mixes some hot burnt exhaust with intake air to control emissions, nox I think, by reducing lean burn temperatures.

Pinch the vacuum line going to it if its soft, or pull off the end and stick in some kind of plug.

MityVac or its ilk work dandy for finding vacuum leaks, but replacing all the lines isn't bad.

I bet the Diverter Valve diaphragm is torn. Should be a one way valve between the cat and the diverter. Just plug it as Mike stated.

Anyone happen to have a pic if the valve itself? I checked the diagram danglerb supplied but still a little unsure of where I should be clamping off.

The EGR valve has 2 vacuum hoses going to it, #26 and #30 on the link Danglerb provided. When the vacuum signal in #30 is greater than #26, the EGR valve opens. If you have those 2 hoses backwards, your car will feel like it has a huge vacuum leak. I would verify all vacuum lines are properly hooked up first. What makes you think it's a bad EGR valve?

Check the decel valve, #21 below. You can test by removing the valve and replacing #22 and #24 with some large vacuum caps.

In the diagram I linked to there are two vacuum lines, 22 and 23, if it leaks both.

ok I have a similar deal on mine, except there is no PIPELINE (#20 in the Auto Atlanta diagram) on my car. Where does that line go? The orange hose is just capped off with a screw in the end of it, too.
