Help - seat velour original in 1979 Casablanca Beige

Hi folks

Could anyone please advise if this interior material- on seats and door trims - would be OEM Porsche and original to a 1979 Casablanca Beige Metallic (gold) 928.

Does it have a name / code ?

Cheers !

Looks American to me. Do you have a pic of the seats?

I've never seen that pattern in a Porsche. Maybe talk to Rob Budd, Porsche Interior Restoration Leather Craftsman Classic 9 Leather

Looking at it in better light, I don't see stitching around the edges of your door insert. I'm guessing that at some point a previous owner had the interior refreshed at an upholstery shop. -Nothing wrong with that, it's a nice pattern. A look at the seats would help.

It's a low mile car with one owner since 1981 and was last registered for use in 1999...I'm awaiting the Kardex . I have no reason to believe it was retrimmed early or later in its life. More pics .

I've seen this cloth trim before, and I wondered if the velour example I posted on the manual car was another of the options available, but rarely chosen...

The 1979 cloth interior was Pasha- maybe someone could post a picture.

I love the simplicity of your interior, I sure wouldn't be in a rush to change it. It's a nice look, yet with some custom details, like the color tone under the sill plate. I dunno, were 928s still largely hand-built in '79?

Pasha Pattern -

Hey 1st - Personally I think the fabric design someone used to refurbish your interior is very classy and compliments the color scheme of your car. I've seen 928's with some poorly done and unusual color combinations that didn't.

Looking back I regret passing on an early 1979 928 a few years ago because I just couldn't get past the checker board cloth interior. Mechanically it was a really nice low mileage 5 speed car and now think that the Pasha pattern would have grown on me. At the time I hadn't realized the rarity of the silver exterior with such an almost pristine cloth interior. Here are a couple of photos of the Pasha interior.

It had been a garage queen inherited by the son who "was not interested in driving a weird standard transmission car with such a weird shift pattern". He liked the word weird.....

That is a very interesting pattern, and my first thought is that it is a well executed refurb. However from what you say, it could be original. Porsche would provide customers with special order colors and trims, for the right price of course. If that is original, you have a very special car there. Even if not original, it is very well done and nice. I look forward to seeing what else you find out on it.

I do have a pasha interior car, and love these various, early velour designs. Here's my interior:

I agree. Your car has an original look to it.

Ok - Porsche Kardex info is in and the colours are

Opal metallic exterior
Brown interior code AB

From Porsche "basically its leather seats with Velour inlay"

does anyone know where I can reference what 'BROWN AB' is please ...?

My bet is that you have an original, and very rare, interior on that car. Can you post more pictures of the car? Inside, outside, engine bay?
I love the combination.

Shifter looks way too short for a 79. My guess is somebody didn't like the Pascha and replaced it.
