Belt Tension Light

Hi I am wanting to get rid of the belt tensioner light as it comes on after the 3 minutes running consistently. The belt is near new and I have checked the tension several times and it is all ok so I want to bypass it if possible. I'm not sure what the sensor looks like and it is possible that it is not even there and the only 2 wires that are available are both earths. Is the sensor part of the tensioner? There is a approx 5/8 hole with a rubber grommet in the centre timing cover on the tensioner side and I wonder if this is to do with the sensor

Part of the sensor goes into the hole that you described. Does this picture help?

It's all sorted, the sensor was all in place so it just needed a short wire made up and I now have a working sensor
Thanks for the help

FWIW in the posted picture you will note that the spacer washer and the spring appear to be missing.
Also of bigger concern is the isolating sheath that should be on the tensiong pin is also missing and appears to have chipped off du to being brittle.
The washer fits against the plastic isolator then presses on the spring

Could you post a picture showing the spacer washer and spring?

Here is a picture of what the pin washer and spring should look like.
NOTE the washer is a bit thicker than a standard washer so you need to order the correct part if yours is missing,
NOTE its also common that the plastic isolator will chip off,
this can be fixed by fitting some plastic from a yellow butt splice connector that you have removed the inside metal from,
then press the plastic onto the pin, or better you may be able to buy a new isolator

here is a picture of the parts installed,
note the brass part should be bolted to the pivot area of the tensioner arm.

Thanks MrMerlin. Somewhere here in a box is a Ziploc bag containing a spring and a washer - I hope.
