Yup, it's shot.
FYI, on my 78 the bung and hub for the strainer is a different thread size from the available strainers, and is NLA. So if your hub is salvageable, save it just in case. The strainer assembly will actually snap out, so you can buy a new one and snap it out of its hub and into your old one, if need be.

i got it out with no issues. i had a 78 but the one i have now is a 82 and came out wihout stripping the sleeve. i read a trick to put a clamp on the front and it would stop the sleeve from spinning apart and it worked.
i ordered the strainer from roger at 928rus. so far hes been good and never got wrong parts
