Leaky power steering pump

My aluminum power steering pump appears to be leaking. What do you guys do? Is there a rebuild kit? What's the most economical procedure? TIA

There is a rebuild kit and although I've never had the pleasure to rebuild one, I have heard they are surprisingly easy and cheap to rebuild and have a high success rate.

Im currently running 100% of that Lucas power steering oil. No permanent solution (i have a rebuilt rack and pump waiting), but it doesn't complain 1 1/2 years later and doesn't leak any more.

I managed to get off the pulley. There was just a hard seal behind it that I popped out. Hopefully I can put an new on in there and fix the leak.

Pete! How goes it?

How did this shake out?
On later pumps, the pulley is just bolted on to the spindle with 3, 10mm hex. I got no experience with the other versions.
There's a seal around the spindle that will fail, but you have to open the pump to get the circlip off, etc.
Rebuild kit pretty easy/fiddly, once everything pulled off...if you want to take it that far.

I apparently fubar'd the circlip the first time and had to go back in and replace it. That was my own fault.

Best, Dave

I recently had a surgery so I haven't finished. I just need to add fluids and fire it up. I found a seal kit but only changed the seal on the pulley shaft, I didn't dissemble the pump. I just did what was leaking. My catheter comes out Tuesday so I'll let you know how it went soon.
