Shifter handle help.

Hello folks,

I'm posting a new topic here with the hopes you can help me. I recently purchased
a 1986 928S, before you call me stupid you need to know this is my third 928. So I went into this deal willingly and enthusiastically. I have been dealing with some issues, MAF, vacuum modulator, and shifting handle. As previously stated you folks fixed me up with the guy who fixed my MAF. It appears that I have the wrong O ring for my modulator. The shifting handle was broke when I purchased her, I tried fixing her using JB weld., worked for a little while. But she is now broke. Does anyone know of an after market handle that will work. I also think the rod may be hosed as well. A good used one would work as well. I will try to post a pic of my little darling.
Regards p930man

I forgot to tell you folks this is a auto. I believe the trans is a Mercedes 722 270 ****. The little girl has 113k miles on her little feet and the AC works. The gentleman I bought the car from just had a child and his wife was jealous of his other mistress. She said either the car goes or she would. I think he made the wrong choice.

Hello and congrats on the new ride! Looks like he may have made the wrong choice, but you made the right one! I'm attaching 2 links that I hope will be of assistance to you. The first one is a link to our site's tech articles on the 928 that should be useful if you're doing the maintenance and repairs on her. The second one is for the shifter knob. What kind of attachment does it have at the bottom? Is it a pin or a crush sleeve that holds it in place? You may be able to get away with a universal one if it doesn't require you to press a button to get out of Park.

Thanks guys, I think I made the correct choice. It does have the push button to get out of park. As stated the knob has kind of disintegrated. Probably the Texas heat I can operate her with the knob off, but hard on my thumb. Thanks folks, Ill check your links.

I have an extra NOS auto handle in black (can be recovered in any color leather). Interested?
