944 Turbo Engine Management Problem

Hello,

I’m looking for some advice on an engine issue I’m having that is about to cause me to miss my second race of the season, so I’m up for anything!
It’s a 1987 944 Turbo running a Rogue Tuning mass air flow system from right around the time Lindsey took over. After a rebuild this spring, it started up and idled fine. Just before loading up for a test day before my first race, I took it for a quick drive and discovered it struggles to rev past 3000 rpm and there is no boost or power.
I’ve gone through Porsche’s DME test plan and was able to test almost everything, and so far all components check out. I’d never been able to get the Rogue logger to work and I recently discovered the Focus 9 DME with OBD, so I installed the Sport DME, which works great.

The data log is showing the flywheel tooth count reading at 129, instead of 132, so that seems to be my problem or at least a problem.
I’ve swapped both flywheel sensors and adjusted the clearance (even with the engine running) but no change to the count.
I installed the OE style chip that came with the Focus 9 DME, and just plugged in an old flap style AFM (not plumbing it in) and the flywheel count corrected to 132. I swapped in a new chip from Lindsey Racing thinking that was the issue, but it has the same flywheel error.
Any ideas on what to check? A lot has happened in the diagnostic process that I can share if needed, but it seems the timing is off because of the tooth count.

Thank you!

Caveat: I do not know a darn thing about rogue tuning or any aftermarket tune.

However, I do know that the 911 flysheel has 129 teeth and no 944 has 129 teeth. Could it be possible that your rogue device is for a car that is not a 944 turbo?

Yeah, no idea what Josh did on the Rogue Tuning programming side of things for either his M or A Tune chips.

Kind of hard to get in touch with him, from what I understand.

If it helps any, here is the original thread about Tuner Pro on this forum from Josh and Peter:
