My life has changed!!
Hi everyone, just this past weekend I brought a 89 944 Turbo into my life. Got home last night, the car is absolutely amazing. Now I know what you other 951 drivers know about!! I just need to get used to driving it. My GOD it is fast and makes cool noises. It would outrun my 308 GTS Quattrovalve so bad it makes me giggle. It is faster than a lot of exotics I have driven. Its a black over linen car, some mild mods, stock wheels. I just love it. I plan on driving the heck out of it.
Thanks to this site for teaching me so much about the cars. You guys ROCK! |

I would love to find a Valentine One on ebay or something like that, I certainly need it with the 951. The car I bought just had a ton of major maintenance done to it, and I had a Porsche shop perform a 4+ hour pre purchase inspection on the car. It got a very clean bill of health, and was everything the owner told me. The car is simply amazing. Not only does it have awesome acceleration down low, the top end acceleration is mind boggling. I am nearly addicted to the sound of the turbo, almost like a Pavlovian reaction to the woosh because I know what is coming up a second later. Talk about bang for the buck!

i was trying to buy a valentine one on ebay for about two months and finally gave up.
it's not worth paying over $300 for a used v1 with no warranty and last year's features (ie; no front/back laser detection) when you can get a brand new one with factory warranty for $400. i ended up just buying a brand new one straight from valentine. it's saved me from two tickets in the last month so it's paid for itself already. i used to have an escort but it recently died.

Well after my first week of 951 ownership, I am VERY VERY impressed with this car. Good God it is so fast, but it can be driven easily without invoking the turbo too. It can take Atlanta stop and go with the A/C on very nicely and without a single complaint. The only problem I have noticed is the rich stoichiometric values at hot start up. It seems to be very rich after a spirited run, and takes 4-5 times to re fire. Anyone have any experince with an issue like this?

Hmm, no I have not checked the plugs yet. I will do that tonight. Hey nize, what plugs would you recommend me to put in the car? I can tell you that after 1 week of ownership, I am amazed at what an incredible car the 951 is. It is a superb car to drive, not just because it is extremely fast, but great handling, great sounds, great seats, and it just looks awesome.

the jury is still out on which plugs are the best for the 951. some of the other owners use (in no particular order);
- bosch platinum - bosch regular - ngk platinum - autolite / splitfire - champion personally i use the ngk platinums because they seem to wear out the slowest. i've tried the splitfires but they didn't seem to make much difference. they are also built weak/cheap, as some of them started leaking after only two or three months. edit: i actually did try using champion plugs in a pinch once. i didn't notice any difference so maybe those are a good choice at 99cents per. you can swap plugs once a month and still save money over the ngk platinums. heheh.

Thanks Nize! I think I will stick with either the NGKs or the Bosch. I had good luck with the NGKs in all the British cars I have owned, so I might try those.
