Some little issues.
Now.. first off.. im not sure what this side of the board is for... you guys are pretty damn technical.. and that is great.. are you up for little issues on a turbo as well.. or should i just go to the normal 944 end for that stuff???
Ill ask this time over here.. also post over there..and then you tell me for next if i should stay away from this end for little issues !? Deal? My 951 has a few little issues... First: Turn signal on the passengers side Blinks fast in the morning and then later in the drive VERY VERY slowly ... from what i see all bulbs are ok... Fuses are ok as well... Second: Windshield washer sprayer thing doesnt spray anymore all of a sudden. Had hood up and tested it and the motor runs really hard but nothing comes out. No holes in lines that i can see.. just not pushing stuff out. Only issue i can see with the actual reservoir is the lid is cracked... but the hoses stay in fine. Third: Found frayed wires in the engine bay, right off the brake sensor. Could this lead to issues/shorts? (pic below) Last: Engine bay stinks of burned Oil/Exhaust or something. When i Open the hood i end up smelling like burned oil or exhaust once i get inside.. clothes too... does this mean i have a leak somewhere? What could this mean? Also should i hear a blow off or whistle when turbo kicks in? cuz i do... not as much as when the banjo was off.. but still theres a little whistle in there. Thanks heres the pics of the frayed wire. Its not that bad.. but you can see wire... ![]() ![]()

If its on the 951 you are in the right place... Ill ask this time over here.. also post over there..and then you tell me for next if i should stay away from this end for little issues !? Deal? Deal this is the right place. My 951 has a few little issues... First: Turn signal on the passengers side Blinks fast in the morning and then later in the drive VERY VERY slowly ... from what i see all bulbs are ok... Fuses are ok as well... Bad blinker relay first guess. (temp sensitive ) if bulbs are ok. Blocked nozzles or check valve inline has gone barf. Third: Found frayed wires in the engine bay, right off the brake sensor. Could this lead to issues/shorts? (pic below) Don't know what that electric motor looking thingy is, but is the hose going to your purge valve disconnected ? See pic of mine. Last: Engine bay stinks of burned Oil/Exhaust or something. Yup the turbo should whistle (sweet sound) Could be oil leak onto the manifold or the tubo is blowing oil and you still have a leak in the system. Sox Thanks heres the pics of the frayed wire. Its not that bad.. but you can see wire... ![]()

Thank you... The electric motor thingey is actually the brake pad sensor i think. All my cars have it.. where are yours???
The purge thing... why would you think something is disconnected? does it look that way in the pic? what am i missing? There doesnt seem to have anything missing there when i checked. So the turbo may be leaking oil? How do i figure that out? I want to replace it anyways... jsut cuz i can get a bigger one ![]() Thanks for the quick reply! Lemme know whats up

Brake pad sensors are located on each of the pads at the caliper not in the engine bay. Based on the metal strapping/bracket that's in the picture I'd say that's something that's custom/aftermarket.

I think those brown/black barrels located on each side of the engine compartment are the plastic interconnects for the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) sensors. The sensors themselves are located near the hubs to monitor hub rotation. I'm not positive but the brake pad wear sensors, located at the brake pads, may interconnect there as well.
Sox, does your car have ABS? If not, that might explain why the interconnects are missing. A.J.

The breakdown of the rubber insulation is a typical problem. You could recoat it with some sort of spiral wrap as a precaution but its not a serious problem, just looks bad.
The quick blinker is usually a bulb. They can fool you because the filliment will open up and flutter around then occassionally fall back across fixing itself temporarily. This also explains why a bulb sometimes is a little bright. Pull the bulb from the front and rear for the side that is blinking fast and shake them to see a broken filliment. The oil smell is also typical - are there spots on your garage floor? You'l probaby have to get the car up on ramps or stands to find out that the front engine seals are leaking - very typical. Probably about a $700 hit. Find a mech that you can trust. The first step might to be to be sure you're using the correct weight oil. One of the few down sides to these cars is they shine when the maintenance is kept up. That really favors the guys who are comfortable puttering away with little mechanical things. Paying someone to work on an old German car is almost always painful. Bruce

Thank you for the break down! very thorough...
I had records checked... and all the seals were done recently.. within 2 years from when i got it. Im assuming maybe cuz its very very cold here. and the car was summer driven only before hand and always garaged... i might be using the wrong weight... i think its 5 30 in there right now.. Which is the stuff the PO used. oh well.. ill figure it.. im assuming the turbo is eating oil a little.. and that will give me enough in my mind to upgrade ![]() Other than that i love this car sooo much.. its been my dream car since i raced BMX bikes in the 80's and early 90's ![]() now i have an issue wiht a brake clattering... i think the pad is lose in the caliper... and its now starting to seise. pulling every once and a while..... something for a warmer day!
