Any interest in a group buy on wastegate adapters?
I've been talking to a local machine shop about making me some adapters for a JGS Precision 40mm wastegate. It is the exact same dimensions as a Tial 38mm so these would work just fine with that too. I'm calling him tomorrow to figure out more details but he was wondering if there would be an interest for them. If we have 10+ people interested the price will drop quite a bit. I'll know more about price tomorrow but it should be well under $100 for stainless.
Also, does anyone know if the Synapse wastegates have the same dimensions as a tial or would that be a different set of adapters?

Just got off the phone with the machinist...will take about a week or so before I know exact details (still waiting on my new wastegate to come in and gotta pull the old one off the car).
He did throw out a rough estimate based upon rough dimensions, material (stainless), and machining needed. He said his best guess would be $70 and he'd try and get it even cheap than that...especially if there were 10 or so sets to be made. These adapters will work with JGS Prescision 40mm and Tial 38mm (exact same I/O dimensions). I do not know if it will work with a Synapse, still researching that one. If you are interested please post. Like I said, more concrete details with exact prices should come in 1-2 weeks.

Alright, FINALLY got around to pulling off my OEM wastegate and designing these things. They aren't fully finished yet (figuring out a few final dimensions). They will work with Tial 38mm, Synapse 38mm, or JGS 40mm wastegates.
Will know actual price in a week or two after I get the prints to the machinist. ![]()

I still have the stock waste gate, but may consider going aftermarket at some point. But I was under the impression that they were a bolt-on fit. How come adapters are needed? From the pic, it looks like they are pipe-end flanges, or something.

I C, thanks. That changes my outlook on the aftermarket ones. I was originally going to install a 5mm shim (that I already purchased) onto my stocker, but I understand that there are drawbacks to that going that route. In light of the info just presented here, it looks like I will be modding the stocker into a dual port. If the mod can be done without removing the WG from the vehicle, that would be ideal, as my biggest fear is breaking bolts.

if i recall, you will need two adapter plates to make the tial 38mm fit with the stock exhaust setup. if it's $70 per, or $140/set, it is not any cheaper than the everyday price at pauer tuning, which includes bolts, washers, gasket, and safety wire;
Wastegate Upgrades ![]() if it's $70 for the set, including gasket, washers, bolts, and safety wire, then you've got a better deal. ![]()

Just got back from dropping the prints off at the machine shop, first set will be done next week and I'll post details then so everyone can see them before they commit.
Price is going to be approximately $50-60 for the adapters, and then add another $15 for bolts and shipping. So at the MAXIMUM they should be $75, but it could be possible to get them closer to $60-65. Will know more concrete pricing when I get the first set next week.

Sweet...Alex...thanx for setting this up.
Will the bolts be drilled to allow security wire? Also, any option to not get bolts so we can drive the price lower?

I'm looking into this. Drilled bolts are a bit more expensive and are hard to find in the correct sizes. If I go with non-drilled bolts it would only save a few bucks to not include them. I'll have some more updates on "hardware" in a few days.

Alright, did some more research on hardware, there will be 3 options.
1.) No hardware 2.) Regular black-oxide socket screws (M8x1.25) - $5.00 3.) Drilled black-oxide socket screws (5/16"-24) - $11.00 (safety wire NOT included, can be found online for <$10 for way more than you'll need) If there is interest, I could add a 4th option which would be stainless regular socket screws. They would be around the same price as the drilled option. Once I get the first set of plates back from the shop I will start a new thread with an actual group buy. Payment will be due up front and will be non-refundable. I am going to initially limit the group-buy to 10 sets. If there is interest for more I will have to talk to the machine shop to see if they have the time to do more. I will also need to know upfront what hardware package you would like. If you are ordering them without hardware then you will need to specify M8x1.25 threads or 5/16"-24 threads

Would it be possible to get the adapter plates also made with v-band clamp fittings. This would alleviate the bolt issues and worrying about safety wiring them, etc. Tial sells 38mm wastegates with the vband fittings.
