3 Bar FPR for adjustable boost
Hi all. Just wondering if a 3 bar FPR will be of any benefit to my engine if running slightly higher boost, around 13psi. I haven't had this car for long and I know it hasn't been chipped, but has an MBC under the bonnet. Top left on the firewall. It runs from the klr line to the wastegate.

I'm also interested to know this, as I'm running 16psi at the moment. I thought mine came with a 3bar FPR, but I haven't bothered to look since I figured out what a 3 bar looks like compared to a stock one. The car's been running fine and it has some supporting mods like a chip and dual port, but I'd like to know for sure that its safe to do this. I have a 3 bar on my to-do list but knowing will help me prioritize a lot better.

You don't need one at 13 or even 16 psi. It would only lower the car's fuel economy, by running it richer during warm-up, and could possibly keep it from going into closed loop operation.

951MAXX Chips
You must have all parts of the equation. You NEED 3" exhaust to flow enough air, you NEED 3 bar fuel regulator to feed the injectors with enough fuel at the proper pressure per their duty cycle. You may even want to move up to #55 injectors to be on the safe side. I used stock injectors that had been rebuilt and flow matched. maybe Vic will chime in... also, no real physical difference in the regulators, except maybe for color. A lot of the newer bosch 3.0bar regulators are black but some early ones have the zinc plating and i personally have one that is silver in color. Easiest way to find out what size it is = read it. they all say on them. stock is 2.5bar, anything else, isn't stock

REPLACE YOUR FUEL LINES!!!
Several good chips out there - the 951MAX but I'd talk to John @ Vitesse and definitely consdier his AFM chips (no, you don't need to buy the whole MAF to use his chips). I have used both and my car ran noticeably better with the Vitesse chip, 3BAR FPR and an Accuboost (a manual boost controller that allows you to bypass the cycling valve and go directly to the wastegate). John's support is second to none. |

if you don't want to ruin your motor, read this;
Porsche 951 (944 turbo) reference list especially the part about the cycle valve.
