Looking for a "how-to"

I've never screwed with a wastegate before, but after reading and searching on this forum i decided to order a fabspeed 4"catback a cat-less midpipe and s downpipe, I also ordered th Lindsey Racing Instant RWHP kit which includes a 3 bar FPR, DME and KLR chips, their boost enhancer and wastegate shims...

I need some help with the wastegate shim install, I dont have the car infront of me to reference as im about 999.3 miles away from it. I hear all th horror stories about broken studs and i already plan to have to take it to a machine shop. whn i get the wastegate out what do i have to remove to put the shims in? is there any kind of shim in there from the factory? if so does that stay in there? what should my total height of shims be mic'd out at before i throw it all back together?

Thanks for the help, I searched and found tons on the subject of wastegate shims but non on the install itself.

-Adam

If the WG can be removed without taking out the 4 bottom bolts that attach the dump pipe, that will definitely minimize the chances of snapping them (trust me, they snap VERY easily). The dump pipe will slide right out of the other pipe. I haven't done it this way, but I'm trying to learn YOU from MY mistakes (4 mistakes, to be exact, as I snapped every one of the bolts). There is no factory shim, or shims. The one I installed measured 4.75mm (off the top of my head, I think that converts to around 0.188") in thickness. I'm not really sure if it actually helped anything though.

it did, thank you. another thing im curious about is will the dump pipe diameter where it enters the midpipe be the same stock Vs. fabspeed?

I'm not sure if it's FS or not , but on at least 1 of the aftermarket brands, the pipe needs to be cut shorter. It IS the correct diameter though.
