fuel injectors were stuck

my three year rebuild project is alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!thank you for all of yall's help.

it seems the final puzzle piece (after a no start check list) was to pull and "wake up" the fuel injectors. 9v battery did the trick. fired right up perfect 850 rpm idle.

i could not have done it with out my new peli friends. still a bit to do, but yee haw!

sincerely,

rick

i knew i had spark and some fuel at the rail. then i tested with noid light. tested good. i had tach bounce all systems seemed go. but no fire i read on the forum that someone tested their injectors with a 9v battery. so i did the same. so, i gator clipped a couple of leads to a standard 9v battery and tapped on the conectors of the fuel injector until i heard clicking. eventually after a few "touches" they "woke up" and started clicking...i hooked the harness back up and vroooom!!!!

It seems kinda strange that the DME was unable to wake them up with the 12-14 volts that the electrical system has.

strange indeed. could it be that the 9v battery has a bit more "pop". i haven't put my tongue on one lately, but i do remember or maybe the whole thing is just a coincidence

she's a runnin though!

I got to thinking about it. The duty cycle of the pulses must be too short during start cranking. Also, the system voltage drops considerably during cranking.

fuel injectors can be finnicky after sitting awhile, especially with this ethanol nonsense we've all been saddled with. it is a bad idea to take them out of the car and them leave them to sit without cleaning them.

my advice is this: if you are taking your fuel system apart (sealed systems don't seem to have nearly as much trouble), use a 9v battery to hold the injector open, and use compressed air to force all residual fuel through. then take some non-chlorinated brake cleaner and squirt it through the injector, and finally put some WD40 in before you let it close. you can pulse the injector a few times as well to make sure the pintle or ball and seat get lubricated (or at least water displaced).
