Ostrich 2.0 question?
I got it 2 days ago, but the car still isn't ready to run. There was NO instructions or driver disc with it. But I was able to go online and find "FS232P" driver (com port emulator). So I hooked it up to my desktop computer at home, and using tunerpro, I uploaded the bin file that I want to start out with, to it. It said it was successful, And then I turned emulation ON, before disconnecting the USB cable. If I now connect it to the DME's PROM socket using the ribbon cable, is it ready to go, in place of the chip?

Emulation is only used to make changes on-the-fly, while the car is running and your laptop is hooked up to the ostrich, which is ribbon-cable connected to the DME.
If you uploaded the .bin and you have your pin switch set correctly (towards the 28/32 side), you're good to go. |

Leave the emulation off - it is not useful for us.

OK, keep emulation OFF. Thanks. As for the pin switches, there are options for 24, 28, and 32. But factory preset position is already set to 28. I'm guessing that this is because the ribbon cable and DIP plug supplied with the unit are 28-pin. To verify that the unit does in fact emulate a 2764 with the programming that I uploaded to it, I plugged it into my programmer for the purpose of reading out the program to make sure it matched the bin file (I made NO attempt to write to it). But I couldn't read it because I got stopped by a " pin contact error" on pin #28 (the power pin). I'm assuming that is due to the ostrich not being a real 2764. I guess I'll have to find out when it's time for the car to be started.

Both switches on the Ostrich should be away from the ribbon cable.

Like I said, they are, and already were, so I never needed to touch them.
