FS: 3" Magnaflow Cat w/flange

Under CA's new platform specific cat law I can't use this, less than 100hrs run time, new on 4/3/10. Selling for what I paid, $305 OBO. Boxed and ready to go.

Magnaflow p/n - CA/CE 94309 07/09

I think that you are probably going to have to come (quite a bit) down from your "what I paid for it" price if you are to have any hope of selling it, since it is now a "used" item. That is the way I am seeing it, anyways. I could be wrong though.

Yep Wild, that's why I added the "OBO" disclaimer.

Turbo Tim charges $150 just to add that SS flange.

To me, it is definitely a good-looking cat, and it looks like it should work very well, too. But for the life-of-me, I simply cannot comprehend why cali, or carb, if you prefer, doesn't like it. You don't mention if it is 3", but assuming it is, what options does the CARB offer, in terms of upgrading your 951 exhaust system to 3"?

For a start, there are three agencies that control this stuff, DMV, CA air board and CA Automotive repair board. This cat is perfectly legal as long as you show a receipt dated before Jan, 01 2009 -- if they even look that far.

I think I stated this was a 3" cat in the title..

Yep I see it clearly now. It was, how you say - a bit foggy, this morning when I posted. By CARB, I was referring to the infamous "California Air Resources Board". What was the issue with the magna, making it N/G after 09? And what brands are still considered "acceptable" for a 3" upgrade, in the state of california?

Not a damn thing, it's just CA hard at work wasting money on layers upon layers of creating gubment job security.

The Magnaflow site shows it's still legal, it's just the date of installation where I wasted $305 plus labor and time.

The cat is stamped with a manufacturing date and anything past the Jan 1, 09 date that is not platform specific is illegal - the state is just hiding behind Federal clean air regs to create revenue. This cat does it's job better than the original cat - so it satisfies clean air standards and superseds them.

This cat passed a rolling dyno smog test Nov 19th, with 15mph NOX measured at 202 and 25mph measured at 2.

Being in my part of the state... we all know gross pollution stops at the US border.
