A Flat 6 Guy Enters The Realm of 951's.....

The title says it all...picked this up this weekend...Car has these mods and I'm a newb when it comes to 951's....

Lindsay racing ceramic coated exhaust
Boost controller (manual)
Test pipe
Hybrid turbo (k/26/8)
Cup clutch
Banjo Bolt
Raceware head studs
Wide fire head gasket
Custom Cam Shaft
Refaced valve guides
Polished intake ports
Throttle body bored and polished
Top end of engine re-built/ re- sealed
High flow injectors

Car is clean and pulls strong. Currently has stock AFM/Snorkle set up and Autothority chip set....I've been told there are better chip kits available out there...any suggestions Thanks

sounds like a great machine as is, i'd just drive it until you figure out what you want to change! MAF or MAP would be my first move on engine mods.

Yikes you have a 73 with a 3.6 ? Zhit that must pull nicely. I had a 69E hot rodded with a 3.2. Get ready though, neither of those 911s will ever pull as hard as a 951 after 100 mph. Have fun!

How long did it take you to find the motor? I agree, your pretty much there. Anymore boost or upgrades will start to be alot of money for not much more power. Unless you go crazy then it will be a wicked lot of money for a bunch more power. I have heard that there are better chips too, but I have Authority stage 2 and I am pretty happy. My car is mostly tracked and they have proven to be very driveable and reliable, I may be giving up a few ponies but not worth it for me to switch.

I would definitely consider something from this vendor. A lot of good reviews and he's a genuinely good guy who knows his stuff. Way more contemporary than Autothority...plus you get backup too.

Thanks for your responses...that Rogue kit looks interesting.....

The PO had this car 90% track ready. Coilovers all around, big brakes all around, etc...

I've been doing DE's in the 3.6 but this car just sorta fell into my lap and will become my new DE car....handling and turbo transition seem much more 'refined' than my 930, which is a hand full on the track....

If I was starting all over again and wasn't going with a standalone, I'd use either a Rogue Tuning kit or Vitesse products. If you don't want to change turbos then I'd probably hedge towards the RT setup.

It's also very important to make sure you're using a suitable oil for trackwork. These cars have a propensity for spinning bearings. Since you're in Florida you should use a 20w/50 minimum with plenty of ZDDP. We use a 25w/60 down here in Sydney.

Thanks, I'm aware of the oiling questions in re: the 951, I've run Amsoil 20-50 in my 3.6 for the last 3 years...no problems...

I'm leaning towards the Wolf unit...
