Put your post in the 944 classified section, and you might get the right eyes on your request.
This is the TURBO/TURBO S forum, so not nearly the traffic comes through here. Good luck...

I'm pretty sure that all the 944S ECU chips were 28 pin...

I am basing my search on the info I gathered from a Motronic website that states that the Eprom change from 24 pin to 28 pin occured in the 88 model year as follows.
" The Change was made by BOSCH in late 1987 but is referred to as the 88 redesign. There is much confusion about the 1988 DME and much of it is nonsense. The memory size is the same as the 86 DME. In 1988, the 4k x 8 EPROM was replaced by a 8k x 8 EPROM. The 24-pin socket was replaced with a 28-pin socket. The final change was to add a jumper to the board that instructed the 8051 to ignore its internal 4k x 8 memory. All 8k x 8 of memory is now stored in the EPROM. Year Internal 8051 ROM memory External EPROM Total 1985.5-1987 4k x 8 4k x 8 8k x 8 1988-89 0 8k x 8 8k x 8 """ Based on this...I'm thinking that the 87 944S is a 24 pin Eprom and uses 60-2 trigger input..... Experts, please chime in and educate me. regards, al

That is from the FR Wilks website, and is for the 944 Turbo models.
I don't know if the 944S NA follows the same thing or not.

The 944S and 944S2 ECUs were completely different from the 944 and 944 turbo ECUs, and never had a 24 pin chip. If you have a 944S ECU, open it up and count the pins on the chip and they will add up to 28.
