86 turbo block replacement

I need to purchase a block for my 86 944 turbo and had a couple of questions. First ,what years and models can I use for a donner? Can I use the pistons I have or do I need to use the pistons that were in the block I purchase? What are the differences in the tolerance code groups given in the workshop manuals? Is it possible to tear down a block and rebuild it with simply honing the cylinders or will honing a good cylinder automatically make it out of specs?
