Anyone have a source for a 993 heated windshield?

Hi all, just wondering if anyone on this side of the Atlantic has the electrically heated windshield in their car and if they have ever replaced it.

Looking for a provider and/or part number for this windshield...

Thanks!

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

You might try Geoff at the Chandler, AZ. dealer 1.480.994.9000 They are one of the authorized Porsche Classic dealers, and Geoff was a great help in getting me a rear window for my 993.

I have never heard of a heated windshield for 993 or 964 or any air cooled 911, do you have the option number for that.
I have worked on hundreds of 993's and currently own to 96 variorams and have never seen one with a heated windshield.

I don't think the heated windshield option really made it over here, but I have the wiring for it...it was option M443 on the earlier cars and they do sell heated (2 stage) 993 versions in Europe.

Reason I want it is that the car will eventually be shipped to Europe and demisting is needed a lot more there than here, heated windshield is the way to go, but I need a windshield to get it there of course.

All else fails I will install the wiring, get the cheapest possible windscreen here and then swap it out once I am back in Europe.

Thanks!

Dennis

Yes i see it and also M577, interesting now i am curious if any one has seen or owned a 911 with a heated windscreen in the US. You would think one had to be out there somewhere possibly up north.

I understand, but I want it as I have seen a number of people around my neighbourhood over there driving with clear windshields on a foggy day (the kind where 911 defrosters really don't cut it) and am totally envious.

I'll have the good functioning airco (964 backdated into my early '89) and heat will be the best an older 911 could be....but note that in the early 911's, airco cannot be fed through the defroster vents, the ducting for AC is face level vents only.

Take care,

Dennis
