1992 C2 tire question

I replaced my front 205x55x17 Fuldas with Yoko Advan Neova AD08s. The new tires rub although they are the same size. Anyone?

Though actual tire sizes will vary a bit from nominal it is very unusual for the variation in stock sizes to cause an issue.

are the Neova's 205/55x17 too? same wheels? Stock wheels?

where do they rub? A common place is the joint between the front bumper and the front fender meet, a solution is to trim the shelf formed where these 2 parts come together w/ a hack saw or grinding wheel.

Same size tires went on as came off and on 17 inch turbo twists. I did find the thread about grinding the join so I will see what happens.
Thanks

I believe the stock size is 205/*50*/17, not 55. There shouldn't be any reason to grind bodywork with a 205 front tire on a 964!

Gee, I am blanking, you may be right, 205x50x17. I thought it was 55 but you got me. 205 for sure, and definitely rubs under hard bumpy cornering.

What is the offset on your turbo-twists? My 17" twists have a 52 offset. I installed 5MM spacers up front to prevent rubbing. There are also different steering stops available to prevent rubbing.

I have no idea what the offsets are, I am pretty non technical but I did replace the tires with the same size.

The rubbing seems to come from the join between the bumper and the fender where there is a rubber seal but also a sharp little protrusion sticking out, I have tried to flatten it out and even used a hacksaw to cut the small offender off.
I will take the car out for a canyon run and see if it has helped.

Verify tyre size AND the health of your front struts. If your struts are wearing/worn out this could add to your issues.

Also, isn't 16" standard on a '92 964? My memory could be off here... If so, the OP is running 17" wheels.

17 inch Turbo Twists a very acceptable and common upgrade on these cars from the standard 16 inch D90s.

I replaced 205x50x17 with the same size but get rubbing now pretty badly. I had Fuldas and now Yokohamas and cannot see any difference visually but the rubbing is bad enough to take little bites out of the rubber. No sign of missing paint or any other problem in the wheel well.
