996 trunk release handle fix/replace?

A common cosmetic problem on the 996s is obviously the silver finish on the trunk release handle getting worn off my clumsy feet.

Have any of ya'll ever tried to fix your worn handles? If so, how did you go about it?

BTW, I'm new here in case you didnt notice. Just gave up on my Corvette and found a nice low milage 2000 cab. Speed Yellow baby. I am in love!
