M Logo What Exhaust? (1999 996)

OK, after owning a 64 356, a 76 930, and an 85 Carrera, I crossed over to the dark side and bought a water cooled Porsche. It's one of 4 cars ordered by Champion with lots of deletes, and which were converted into 99 GT-3 clones on delivery. 8500 miles when I bought it Monday.

That said, the stock exhaust is way too quiet. I had a Borla on the Carrera - nice - and a Powerhaus on the 930 - really loud and only lasted ten years.

What would you recommend for the 996? And is muffler installation a pain, or is it as easy as the Carrera, which was 3 bolts and a clamp - 30 minutes tops.

Thanks!

Steve

Easy to do. I had Fabspeeds on the 99 I owned but had the Porsche motor sound package on the 02. I preferred the Porsche motorsound.

You might want to ty the Rennlist 996 or GT2/3 board. There are a lot more owners there than here. There was one guy that happens to be local to me that just installed a beaut on his GT3, search for "Rocketman"

I would suggest the Porsche Sport Exhaust. I have it on my 99 996 and love it. Shop around for the mufflers and just throw them on without the electronics that come with them. You and a buddy can throw them on in about 2 hrs. Very easy.

The 996 or 911 race car? You can goto www.plavanracing.com for pictures. My 996 pictures are old. It has a ton of upgrades since then. I need to take new pictures.
