Newbie question- radio code?

Can anyone tell me how to reset the code on a factory DIN?
I don't have the owners manual yet as it's beeing shipped to me. They did manage to get the code and called and gave it to me.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out HOW to imput the code.

The DIN is a factory tape deck with a changer in the trunk. It has "CR-1" on the tape cover. When I turn it on, the backlighting lights up but nothing is displayed on the small screen. I've pushed every button imaginable and have not been able to figure out how to get it to take the code.

Plus, the dealer gave me "04213". There is no "0" on the tape deck.... Ideas?

Sorry I can't help Lee, as i have the later head unit.
The '95s have the CR-1 which i believe is Alpine based. It was also used in the 964s. The '96s and up used a CR210 or CD210 which were Becker based units.
I looked in the shop manual, but there is nothing that specifically deals with entering the radio code.
Hopefully the package you are waiting on will include the radio manual, as it is seperate from the owner's manual (at least for my '97)

EDIT: i found this thread on the rennlist 964 board- hope it helps- http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=100903&highlight=radio+code

You have been given an incorrect code. Mine is four digits. Turn the unit on, if the word "code" is displayed enter the code. If you make a mistake push the band slector switch for more than 2 seconds and "code" will appear in the display and enter the code again. If you make a mistake a second through fifth time push the ban selector switch for than 2 seconds and "code" will appear after 15 minutes.

BTW the Cr-1 was made by Nokia and after almost 10 years they are worthless. I sold the changer and installed an alpine cd/mp3 player. Took about 20 minutes to splice the harness and jiggle the chassis. Works like a champ and you can put 100-200 tunes on one cd. The alpine uses the same chassis as stock cr-1. After the install the old speakers sound pretty tired, next thing you know you're drilling out the airbox...

Yes, I had the same problem a few years back. Don't believe you have a big problem - provided you have the code. I see others already have responded, and I don't remember the drill. If you still need the answer, advise, and I will dig out the answer.
