Brake ?
Rear Brake Pad Sensor, 911 Carrera 2/4 (1989-94), 911 Turbo (1991-94)
Is this the sensor with the wire on it. That goes on each pad in the slot. I was trying to figure out how to remove very very softly but not enough. broke in little chunks.http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911L/POR_911L_brakes_pg5.htm#item27

It’s hard to tell from your description, but yes, it sounds like you’re on the right track. The plastic on the sensors degrades from heat, and it is very difficult, if not impossible, to remove without breaking it. As long as you’re in there replacing pads (is that what you were doing?), you might as well replace the sensors
If you could post a picture of what you removed, we could be sure.

They are very difficult to remove without breaking. I no longer replace them (simply have the wires shorted together) as I check the brakes often enough that they are not needed.

Pad sensors
They are difficult to remove with out breaking, It can be done somtimes. Take your time spray lubricant on the sensors and work them out slowly. To install them with new or old pads this is what I do. Unplug the sensor take the sensor and the new or old pad and file the little sensor slot in the pad to fit the each sensor with a little bit of resistance, just enough so you can slide the sensor on and off the pad with minimal resistance, custom fit each sensor to each pad. Sometimes just removing the paint on the pad backing plate sensor slot is all it takes. Hope this helps.
