Tie rod, connecting rod, what rod are you talking about?

My 964 Technical Manual from Bentley says:

Tightening torques
m9 x 1.25 bolt head marked with 00
stage I............20Nm (14 ft-lb)
stage II...........plus 90 degrees (1/4 turn)

m9 x 1.25 bolt head marked with 12.9
stage I............15Nm (11 ft-lb)
stage II...........plus 90 degrees (1/4 turn)
stage III...........plus 90 degrees (1/4 turn)

Always use new bolts and nuts and be careful of your knuckles as that last 1/4 turn on the 12.9's takes some brute strength.

You might want to invest in this Technical Manual as they explain the best methods to ensure the proper weight rod and pistons and others are located in different cylinder locations. It could make for a smoother running engine...

Always coat the rod bolts with whatever engine oil you are running! Never install them dry. Besides torque specs being off you can damage the threads.
