My car (996tt) is having a clunking noise when I accelerate from a stop. Furthermore, there is a momentary hesitation when I accelerate.
I have taken the car to the dealer and the mechanic told me that the U or CV joints are ok. The mechanic also said that the engine and transmission mounts are ok. What esle can you guys think of which may be the cause of this noise? It feels like somthing is dropped underneath the car. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Dual mass flywheel impeding failure? Do you get the "clunk" when you turn off the engine (listen carefully, maybe a quieter clunk but the same location/timbre.
You took it to the dealer...what did they say the sound was? |

My car is a tip. There is only one "clunk" sound when I step on the gas. There is no clunk sound when engine is off. The dealer said they can't duplicate the noise.
