964 Wheel Bearing Replacement Question
How do I get the wheel hub # 8 separated from main hub carrier #1. They seem to be stuck together. See picture. Any advise will be welcome.

You have to drive it out from the back side.
Optionally, you can remove the entire knuckle, and then press the hub out. AFJuvat

Assuming you are going to replace the bearing, you can use a slide hammer to pop it off. The inner race of the wheel bearing may come off with it and you will have to use a drift to get it off later.

460 Nm (340 ft lb). Note you are supposed to change the locknut (#16)

Thanks for the information. 340 ft lbs. thats tight. How critical is the replacement of the nut?

By the book, it is supposed to be changed because the threads have stretched from the torque when it was installed.
I think the nuts are about $15 each or so. AFJuvat

I have been told by a guy who did the job that when he didn't change the locknut the torque could not be maintained and the bearing failed quickly. So change it.

Front hub nut replacement.
That is the problem I have the bearing feels bad and when i removed the nut to investigate the bearing the nut was not 340 ft. lbs. Much looser (will not hold torque) that is why bearing is failing. I could also tell it had been removed some time previous because it had antiseaze compound on the threads. I an sick and tired of dumb mechanics. Thanks for the help and information.

Anti-siezing is fairly common.
What I've found that works well, is torquing the nut by hand to 275ftlbs, marking center, than impacting it. - it only needs to rotate approximately 5mm from that point to be at 340 - 359 ftlbs. AFJuvat "Dumb Mechanic"
