Carrera 2S 18" Wheels

My 1997 Carrera 2S was fitted with 9J X 17 rear wheels with a 55mm offset . Being the wide bodied model it was also fitted with 31mm spacers. I have just purchased 10J x 18 wheels which also have a 55mm offset. I was told by the supplier of the wheels to remove the 31mm spacers and replace them with 6mm shims. I have done this but the wheel arches seem rather "empty".Can anyone with a 2S who has 10J x 18 wheels with a 55mm offset let me know what size of spacers can be safely fitted?

Widebody 10s want a 40mm o/s

So to have your wheels fit like the correct ones 55-40 =15mm

Use a 15mm spacer
