My own choice , influenced by state and national law was for a '95 , nb, rwd coupe
'96 and later are subject to potentially expensive and certainly annoying CEL issues I like the nb look over the wb S/tt 2wd is more sporting than 4 Be prepared to look at a lot of cars, I actively searched for several years before finding the right one

They are all good cars, just make sure and get a PPI. My personal choice is a C4S but would also like to own a C2S for the 2 wheel drive and they are somewhat rare. You will pay a premium for a widebody but the resale is worth it to me.

I bought a very late model 95. I am very pleased with it.
There are three main diff between the 95 and the 96-98 other than cost. First is the annoying basket handle third light. My late 95 does not have it it has the same light along the roof as the 96-98s or the European cars. Second is Porsche introduced Varioram in 96. This is a variable intake runner system that adds 12-15 Hp. A chip can do the same if you really need the extra HPs. 95s are easy to chip, 96s are hardwired 97-98 are easy to chip again. Finally the 95s are OBD1 and do not give you a CEL if you have clogged secondary air injectors. The 96-98 cars are OBD2 and tell you when they are clogged (CEL) this is only an issue if you need to pass a smog test. No matter what you buy I hope you get a good one. If you read your buyers guide and listen to our advice you will. I did and it's the funnest and best car I have ever owned! Enjoy!
