Fuel cap noise
Hi 911 folk. I originally posted this on the Boxster site quite a while ago without much success. I'm hoping contacting a wider array of Porsche owners, especially 996ers, will shed some light.
My 2000 Boxster S has an intermittent blowing noise coming from the gas cap area. I've replaced the cap. The noise has an electronic on/off quality to it, like if an electric radiator fan were cycling on and off. It only happens when the car is fully warmed, and more often on hot days. It happened once while the car was idling and my daughter was standing nearby. She pointed at the gas cap and said, "What's that?" It goes away when I blip the throttle at any speed. Any ideas? I've already had my local shop look at it and, of course, they couldn't hear it. |

Do you have a check engine light?
Wonder if your tank vent purge valve is sticking. AFJ
