Need help with Gauge Face Replacement

Hey everyone, I've started the process of replacing my guage faces. I have a 1992 964. The gauges are out but I'm having some problems getting the needle off my speedometer.

I've tried using the approach listed in the Tech articles but I'm not having much luck and I don't want to break the needle!

Anyone else done this and has some suggestions on getting the needle off the gauge?? It doesn't seem to want to come off.

Just be carefull and pull it straight off. I did mine when my odometer gear broke and had to disassemble the whole thing.
It's just a pressure fit on a small shaft, be more carefull when re-installing as the shaft is very small and the wrong side forces could bend/break it.
You can go to p-car.com they have this in the DIY section

Yeah, I've read the P-Car.com write up as well but I've tried pulling this thing straight out with quite a bit of force and it's not budging.

I'm wondering if there are any tricks to making it loosen up a bit. For example, heat gun, etc?
