I have a '96 993 with an aftermarket rear spoiler. The shocks had been replaced with factory parts (I think... they are new) just before I bought the care in June, but they won't hold the weight. It's embarrassing to have to hold the cover up with my shoulder while checking the oil on such a nice car! Pelican offers replacements but I don't know which to get. Any suggestions?

You can try the weltmeisters, but they have been known to bend a few trunks and engine lids. Many people with this problem use a small stick to hold the lid up.

I just bought and installed the stabilus from Pelican for my 95 with the motorized spoiler which is pretty heavy.
Part no. was 911-512-331-02-M24. Only $13 each.

New factory Porsche hood shocks should hold up just about anything aftermarket or not. Are you certain these were replaced? Both of them?

Thanks for the input you guys. I think I'll buy a new set of Stabilus and a "pogo" stick and between the two, I'll have the problem licked for sure. pf
