92 C2 Coupe Value

Very limited info but what would a '92 C2 sunroof coupe with 183,000 miles be worth, ballpark of course. Also what are the known issues with this model. I'm an SC guy and don't know much about these "new" cars...

TIA

With the limited info you gave, all you can have is a range. I would say $10k-20k. If you have more info on condition, and age of top end, clutch, trans, alternator etc. then we can get closer.

Problems are oil leaks, valve guides, general tired parts at this mileage. THe clutch was an issue, but I am sure this was resolved by now. Kevin

The key there was 70K engine. At 180K you are getting very close to at least a top end rebuild. Receipts are everything at that age car.

Kevin is right about the oil leaks (cylinder head/cylinder problem), valve guides (affects all models, more sensitive in Carrera's and later) -- but mostly tired parts. This could be an $8K car or a $15K car depending on what kind of maintenance has been done. It would likely be on its second clutch, but how long ago? How about shocks? How is the HVAC brain and all the actuators? Distributor belt rebuilt?

The C2 problems have been well-discussed on this site. A 92 has better rear brakes and aero mirrors which I think is a nice upgrade from 91. Most of the big chronic problems should have shown themselves by now, so you are simply dealing with an old car.

John has an excellent 964-specific site: http://www.porsche964.co.uk Suggest you give it a browse. Adrian Streather has also published a good reference book.

Good Luck!

Don
