1999 966 - Info needed

I am test driving a 1999 996 w/ 55k miles tomorrow. I was wondering what the common problems are with this car. Being the first year of 996's I'm a little nervous. I did a quick search but couldn't find many specific problems.

Also if you know of a good mechanic in the Roanoke, VA area I'm looking to get someone to take a look at the car.

Let me be the first to chime in for the Rear main seal issue. Not a huge deal but one that has been around. Not a huge deal in most and if it does go it's around $800 to get in there and out.

Also you didn't mention the price which would make a big difference in the purchase. The 99's are way down in the market and so you should be getting a deal in the LOW 30's with that sort of mileage.
