993 RS 2nd gear dog teeth ???
I have a 993RS (1996). G50 6 speed.
The 2nd gear dogs (gear teeth) are gone. I can see here on PP that I can buy 3rd-6th dogs - why not the dogs for 2nd... Do I have to buy a new 2nd gear set? Can anyone help - who do I call for aftermarket dogs? Regards, Tom

New factory teeth must be heliarc welded onto 6-speed 1st & 2nd idler gears. This is best left to those experienced with this specific repair. 3rd - 6th gears accept press-on synchro teeth .... just like the 5-speed 1st - 5th. Even these should get a few small spot welds as insurance, although you can usually get away without this on the G50 (& later) series.

Not all G50 6-speeds have both 1st and 2nd on the main shaft. You can get a new main shaft with just 1st on it and then add whatever you want for 2nd. If you want steel synchro's, be warned that the synchro's for 2nd are about $1400 while the brass are about $50.
