Cranks - but won't start

Have low mileage (62K) '92 C2 Roadster. Drive only on weekends, and when last parked ran just fine. Had disconnected battery to charge - reconnected 2 weeks later to go out for drive. Engine cranks just fine, but won't start. Seems almost like either the security system is preventing start-up (although all indicators would indicate its operating fine) or that is not receiving fuel, but can hear fuel pump operating and tank has gas. Any ideas welcome?

The first thing i woudl check would be the DME relay:

This is a 993 page, but applies equally well to the 964.

Are you sure that is the fuel pump? More likely what you're hearing is the brake booster pump.

DME relay is a good starting point also check fuse 34. If you jump 87a (to pump +) and 30 (from batt +) in the relay socket, you can actually check the fuel pump's operation with everything else quiet.
