how do you remove the rear calipers
I am trying to remove the rear calipers but my 10mm allen wrench won't fit behind the caliper. Is there a stubby one that I can get somewhere or another tool that I should be using. The alternative is the cut down my allen wrench.

Allen socket.
Sometimes you need to use a floor jack to raise the trailing arm to work on rear suspension stuff (though not sure in your particular case since you've not listed car, year, etc.). Don

I have a 1991 964 C2. I am trying to replace the single piston calipers with dual piston ones.

I've had luck sticking the long end of the allen key in and using a 3/8"? x 12" pipe as a breaker bar (also a 3 lbs sledge to persuade it). Also need to use a heat gun to undo the loctite.

I've been soaking it with the liquid wrench and have partially stripped the allen. I have ordered a 10mm allen socket and will try using an impact driver. Thanks for the suggestions.

The extra long allen is a real requirement. Mine came loose after an overnight soak and use of a breaker bar. It was not easy.

Is this for a 964 or a 993? You don't need to remove anything to get to the bolt on the 964. You do need a 10" long 10mm allen socket. Snap-on sells them. This long socket goes through a hole in the trailing arm and voila, you're done! No need for a breaker bar either. Good luck.
