Porsche Crest 993 Exhaust Replacement DIY HELP NEEDED

I am looking for step by step instruction from a fellow driver. I am looking to replace my stock header/exhaust system and chip with a Fabspeed system, but want to get instruction from someone who has gone before me. Cheers mate.

Porsche Crest

thanks for asking....I am looking to replace the headers and cats with something new that sounds loud, yet steetable. I would like to try and replace on my own, but need instructions both verbal and pictoral. And I need to swap out the chip, according to f-sp. Why F-speed? Because it is the sytem that I know of. If there are others that are better, I would appreciate knowing. Thanks in advance. This is my first post to this site. Cheers, D

Modify your own mufflers, check out LPMM in the 993 forum in Rennlist, and become amazed. Basically adding a 2" bypass pipe post cat that allows more sound out the exhaust tips. The materials and installation cost me $88, the result is priceless.

E.M., email has been sent. You really don't need headers, the factory exchangers do a pretty good job. Search the Rennlist board (993) for DACH or ask around here, (other than my biggest non fan Mr. Verberg). You'll find everyone is more than satisfied with what we do......and they look great too

here is a sound clip http://manmicro.com/porsche/muffler/new_mufflers.MOV of the LPMM set up. I have still not found the diagram of how to accomplish the modification. I am not a member of rennlist. Kevin

check out this link, this is what my stuff will make your car sound like. What you are listening to are my X-pipes (cat delete) and DACH R's modified (internally) factory muffs

I would leave the stock mufflers and headers w/ a Fabspeed/Cargraphic/FVD type cat bypass.

The cat by pass alone gives the car a nice growl. cat by pass and modified freeer flowing mufflers makes a lot of noise, nice for the afficianado but it will get you kicked off a place like LimeRock

Unless you are running more aggressive cams than the MAF can handle, true headers get you nothing, I've run true headers on my 3.8RS and stockers w/ bypass, power is the same either way.

Without trying to get flamed here, I would respectfully suggest you leave the cat on. The environment would appreciate it.

Well since you have yet to ever experience mine.......once again, you really aren't at liberty to incinuate that mine doesn't work "right". I have many, many customers as you know, who love it and swear by it. But thanks again for keeping the thread alive, know I can always count on my anti-cheer leader

Fabspeed has a cat option, or perhaps the Cargraphic NGT, both are properly engineered exhausts

caveat, the headers don't get you anything unless there are mods in the intake and cam areas

yeah you're right. I don't know who puts this out but I guess someone should tell Gert that he sells inferior designed products as well.

Mod: Perhaps a second thread on Cat Bypass engineering and gas behavior in a tube is in order. Until, then, let's please keep this thread on topic to the question about step by step instruction and leave product choice separately?

Thanks,

Don

Right again Bill, 'cause those bent slip jointed pipes are WAY harder to make, and so much more prceisely fitting than "other" mfg's products.
Don, you're absolutely right, we need to bring it back to the topic at hand. I offered my help to David via email since this post has become jacked. Plus Bill's just to smart for me anyway And since he's not WOW'd by my brilliance and I'm not by B.S..........

Thanks to DACH for the email with pixs. The Utube link is spot on with what I am searching for. I was hoping to get a phone call, or email on how to get in contact to place an order. Please advise. David
