Remove/modify the sound tray?
In the performance handbook by Bruce Anderson he states that he has seen many 964 motors with excessively worn exhaust guides due to the sound tray restricting air flow. Have any of you guys taken it off <9and left it off), or can it be drilled,(like the airbox in Waynes book), out to increase airflow and still serve some sound deadening purpose? Thanks, Jeff

If you are talking about the rear most under tray, then yes remove it and dispose of it. It only helps to cook everything back there. From one who sees a fair amount of track time, it has seemed to make no real difference not having it.
