Tips for Lightening a 993?

I have a '96 993 C2 that I'd like to lighten-up for track use. If you have tips on how you lightened your car, I'd love to hear them. I am keeping the car street legal and also hoping to avoid significant body mods.

What is your definition of "street legal"? For example, putting in race seats reduces weight and helps keep you planted at the track, but DOT won't like them.

I was thinking more along the lines of smog restrictions, lighting requirements, 3-point belt requirements, etc. I already have racing seats in the car, a rear seat delete, etc. I was hoping to hear from people that found parts like bumper supports, door reinforcement, etc., that could be removed without significantly affecting the aesthetics of the car or its driveability.

Lots of sound deadening in the cabin.
Lose the sunroof
RS washer bottle

If it's street legal, wouldn't consider removing structural door steel - unless you have a full cage, in which case I wouldn't drive it on the street.

What is this Don? How much difference does this make (vs. an almost empty stock bottle). I am looking for options to lighten the car without changing too much in appearance and luxury.

Cheers, George

this is what an RS bottle looks like
probably doesn't save much over an empty stock one

rear seats and carpet are easily removed and fairly heavy
you'll want to replace the heavy pads w/ aluminum

replace stock seats w/ l/w sport versions, same w/ door panels

the cat is heavy and in the wrong place, Fabspeed pipes help

Ditch the heavy electric spoiler decklid for a lightweight ducktail or equivelent.

Switch to a lightweight battery like the Odyssey PC680 or PC925, and mount it on the right instead of the left for better weight distribution.

Scrap the airbag steering wheel for a Momo and remove the passenger's airbag as well. The non-airbag steering wheel makes a HUGE difference in steering feel.

Swap out the Dual-Mass flywheel for the RS. Livens the car up nicely. Not just weight savings in the back, but it's also rotating at engine speed. Win-win if there ever was one.

Ditch the engine blower fan for the Cup bypass pipe. Remove the cruise control servo from under the intake.

Fikse wheels.
