There are few differences between US and RoW excluding rhd English and Japanese cars. But you might want to check w/ US DoT and EPA first to see what they will require as they do have the final say in the matter. EPA is usually easy DoT can be tough.

thanks for the info. The car has been imported to Canada - no EPA/DOT issues. Basically some "fly by night" garage okays the importation through an "inspection".

Whoever does the inspection must issue an EPA and DoT certiuficate or the car cannot be registered for road use in the US. I went through this when I brought my C# into the country.

If I were you I would check w/ the proper agencies.

DMV is very rigid about what chassis can and cannot be licenced

Good luck

Rhd

Even though vehicles in Japan are legally RHD, Porsches are often imported into Japan as LHD. They feel it gives the vehicle more status.
Cheers

Hello all, from Japan,

Almost porsche in Japan are LHD, and RHD 964 are very rare.
Exclude the photograph, I have not seen it actually yet.

LH(=imported) car may give special status to people not well informed about the car.
Because LH was a symbol of expensive and high performance car when the car of Japan was cheaper than now.
So, my red 964 is very impressive for aged people (who don't know Porsche).

This car appears to have been built for the Japanese market - i.e. Japanese writing on some of the Porsche stickers, etc. Would this be reasonable assumption?
