New to the 993 World

Ok, I'm ready to take the plung and trade the early/mid 911's for a 993.
What are the best upgrades and issued which I should/could do? Car is for street/DE. Recommendations?
Air box
Exhaust
Chip
Brake Cooling ducts
Shocks
Bushings/Bearings

Tia, John

search here on on Rennlist.com for those issues you listed, plenty of good info. You want to check mainly for SAI if you're looking at 96 and later 993's. All in all, great cars.

I would start w/ suspension

from most streetable to most trackable
fully threaded Bilstein w/ RoW M030 springs and sways
PSS9 w/ adjustable sways
JIC w/ adjustable sways
Moton or JFZ w/ adjustable sways, monoballs

Depends on the Street/DE ratio.
If the shocks are stock, they are shot.
Drill the airbox cover for more noise (Motorsound option)
Exhaust is nice, but not essential
Car has great airflow, you shouldn't need cooling until it becomes a pure track car. Better pads certainly help.

Enjoy the hunt.

Oh Boy John, here we go.... good luck.

I can tell you that you're going to be absolutely amazed at how nice the shifting is compared to the pre964 boxes.

You should consider the RS motor mounts. They are an excellent upgrade for street/DE usage.

Thanks for the input. I have fairly extensive 911 experience, but have decided to sell the race car, having already sold the street car, and move into a 993.

What Bill V. said.

Suspension, wheels and tires transform these cars. You could stop there and be perfectly happy.

Seats are important to me, but may not be to you.

I have a Rennsport shifter, which I like, but I don't think it is a necessity.

I haven't installed my chip in my '95 yet, but I heard I will get a little more midrange, bringing the '95 closer to the vario in the '96+ cars.

Other than that, you will not get much greater improvement unless you spend big $$$, ask Bill.
