Porsche Crest Rear Sway bar for 964

I have a 964 C4 and I am wondering if If will see a major improvement in handling if I upgrade to an 18 mm rear sway bar. I am not certain what the mm is on a stock sway for my car, does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks
SG

Streather has a good writeup in the 964 bible.

What year is your C4? 18mm was stock for 89-90, but then it went to 20mm for 91-94.

Also, I assume your car has a strong understeer balance now? Do you see this on the street or track?

my 964 is a 1989 c4. I only drive on the street for now. I have only put about 2k on the car since ringing home. Not sure of the difference under and over steering, please explain.

Thanks,

No offense intended, but you probably wouldn't notice if you took your sway bars off. They are used to fine tune the handling at the limit of tire adhesion, typically on a track. Understeer is when the front tires slip before the rears, oversteer is the opposite.

I would suggest an aggressive street alignment from a reputable Porsche shop in your area. This you will notice and appreciate immediately.

I have a spare 20mm rear from a 1991 C4, you are welcome to have for cost of shipping. Not the prettiest of bars, but at least you could see if that would help. I am in process of figuring out what bars I need to put on as I get farther and farther down the de slope.

Give me a few days to get done with the holidays and clear my house, and I will get it boxed. Have a good new year.
